Teaching and documentation

The underground world of caves is quite mysterious to those who do not have the opportunity (or the wish) to enter it. However, the underground environment is possibly interesting to a larger public than speleologists only. Indeed, its study offers a large amount of original and precious information on various subjects such as climatology, palaeontology, hydrology, history, etc.

The SISKA supports speleologists in documenting their underground discoveries. For example, the SISKA helps the SSS (Swiss Speleological Society) to archive the data they have on Swiss caves.

With its educational activities, the SISKA is also working on improving the knowledge which students, teachers and the general public have of the underground environment and karst (limestone landscapes).
