Education
The "Education" sector is a SISKA service dedicated to raising awareness and passing on knowledge about karst. In addition to courses given at various universities (ETH Zurich, Uni Neuchâtel, Uni Besançon, Uni Vienna, etc.), the staff work on scientific outreach projects.
Every year, the SISKA organises courses, lectures, excursions and workshops on the underground environment for a variety of audiences, including schoolchildren, academics, government departments and local people.
Through the publication of brochures, field guides and books, the education sector helps to shed light on and inform the public about karst and the various themes associated with it: underground water, dolines, cavities, wind turbines in karst terrain, vulnerability of the underground environment, etc.

The SISKA develops awareness-raising, scientific mediation and teaching tools, such as videos, teaching kits and excursion guides. These tools can be used by its own teams, at events or on request, with groups (classes, associations, work teams, private individuals). They are also available to teachers and trainers.
Excursions
The SISKA organises educational excursions explaining the evolution of the landscape, underground water flows, geology and karst biotopes. As part of these excursions, small groups can visit a cave, a sensitive object. Some excursions are organised on a regular basis, others on an ad hoc basis. On request, we can organise excursions to suit your wishes. We look forward to hearing from you!
Would you like to be informed in future about the public excursions we offer? Sign up for our newsletter, which is published once or twice a year and keeps you informed about our excursions.
